The 2014 Summer Craze…
The Farmers’ Almanac promises this summer to be a hot one especially in the New York area. This tasty Italian treat known as an affagato has been growing in popularity and will continue to as the season heats up. An affagato in its simplest form is gelato with espresso poured over it. Pictured to the left is the dessert from Aurora in Williamsburg. There the gelato is rolled in ground hazelnuts, cocoa, and sugar.
Espresso machines are large investments for restaurants. Starbuck’s has made espresso and espresso based drinks common across the nation. Now with customers asking for more espresso, restauranteurs want to justify the investment with multiple uses.
